The Tree Act is an important legislature introduced to protect and conserve trees in urban areas. Protecting roadside trees threatened by roadwidening was one of the first campaigns taken up by Parisar. By raising public awareness and through legal intervention, Parisar was instrumental in getting the PMC to formulate bye-laws for the Tree Act and for ensuring that citizen/NGO members were appointed on the Tree Authority of the PMC.
