Our Environment is under serious threat.

Although our Earth has sustained a wide variety of life forms for thousands upon thousands of years, the human species through its growing interference and ever increasing demands on finite resources of our planet in the last few centuries has been responsible for environmental damage that now represents a real threat to the survival of human and other species.

Hundreds of plants and animal species have disappeared or are well on way to extinction. The earth's temperature is growing warmer, almost certainly as a result of human activity, and it is now beyond debate that this global warming is likely to cause climate changes that will have an impact on not only the polar ice caps, melting of which can result in the inundation of low lying land masses including entire islands, but also on frequency of severe floods and droughts, affecting the social, economic and political life of millions of people.

The increasing pressure on the earth's natural resources like potable water, clean air and fertility of soil necessary for feeding the growing number of human population has reached crisis proportions.

Clearly this can't go on without disastrous consequences. We need to understand the problems and begin to find solutions.
