Transformation of Broadway

E-mail Print PDF

New York city's transportation commissioner Janette Sadik-Khan is on a mission to make New York less car-friendly and more pedestrian and cyclist friendly. As part of this transformation, large swathes of Broadway are becoming pedestrianized and closed to cars, as cars are forced to follow a different route while turning one of the world's most congested places into a 58000 square foot pedestrian plaza and providing more space for open-air cafes, urban art and just public spaces for people to hang out.

Here are a couple of artist's impressions of the proposed changes at Broadway, courtesy Streetsblog.
