    After over two decades of work in Electrochemistry, Prof. Reddy felt that most of the work in advanced institutions of education, science and technology was largely irrelevant to the vast majority of the Indian Poor living in villages, and turned his attention to the application of science and technology in the interests of the poor. He has made pioneering contribution to the field of Global Energy problems of developing countries, village ecosystems, science policy for developing countries and alternative technologies.

    He focuses on development and talks about energy as a powerful instrument of development. He questions the paradigm in which energy consumption is a necessary condition for economic growth; where energy becomes an end in itself.

  • In our documentary, "From Congestion to Conservation: Peths of Pune," Parisar explores the heart of our city, the historic Peth areas. While these neighbourhoods represent the cultural soul of Pune, they are increasingly grappling with modern urban challenges, including heavy traffic, rising pollution, and a decline in overall liveability.

    The film goes beyond documenting these issues; it serves as a call to action. We advocate for a shift toward sustainable development that honours Pune’s heritage while reimagining these spaces for the people who live and work there today. By integrating sustainable transport solutions and fostering active community participation, we believe we can transform the Peth areas back into the vibrant, walkable, and people-centric spaces they were meant to be.

  • Parisar has been actively engaging with different stakeholders over the last few years for creating awareness about air pollution, alongside policy advocacy for it with the PMC and other related authorities. Air pollution being a multi-sectoral issue, it seemed only logical for people working in various sectors like health, waste management, education, mobility, gender equality, and corporates to come together to work on it. Parisar initiated the formation of the “Pune Air Action Hub” to take up issues and actions with the aim to reduce air pollution in the city and to minimise the health impacts on citizens.

  • The Pune Air Action Hub released a report on the incidence of waste burning in the city and a review of the grievance redressal mechanism of PMC for the same. The report includes a citizen survey indicating that waste burning is rampant in most areas of the city, along with observance of chronic spots. Even so citizens seem unaware of the complaint mechanisms, pointing to the need for awareness about the same. That being said, an independent analysis of complaints lodged showed delay in response to waste burning complaints and other gaps in the process.
